Defiant Celtic's manager does not fear the sack but Celtic fans unleash wrath following loss.
The Celtic boss insisted he was not afraid of the sack, claiming, “I believe we are really close to a turnaround,” in the wake of moving dangerously close to the chopping block with a comprehensive loss to Rangers.
A Second-Half Collapse Leads to Derby Loss
The Hoops were in front the visitors at the break but a disastrous second period let Danny Röhl’s team to move level on points with the current Scottish Premiership champions. The former MLS manager, who was brought in from Columbus Crew, has now overseen six defeats in his first eight fixtures.
“We are together with the board,” insisted Nancy.
Questioned about the speculation, the 48-year-old said: “I don’t think about it. I concentrate on working out methods to aid my players to improve on small moments.
Fan Fury On Display
Celtic’s support made their feelings clear – directed at the dugout and directors – by gathering at Parkhead. The hierarchy are reportedly likely to re-appoint the interim manager, who enjoyed a successful temporary stint last year, if the Frenchman were sacked.
“The outcomes [that leads to pressure]. So this is the situation for the moment. Yet when I say that’s how it is, it doesn’t mean that I am pessimistic. No. What I mean the turnaround is near, extremely close to change the narrative.”
Focus on the Details
Nancy continues to cling to the fact Celtic show good levels for 45 minutes at a time. For instance, if not for missed chances they would have been greater than 1-0 up. “The performance had merit aside from the fact that we haven’t scored more goals,” he said. “I accept that we lost, but it's important to stay objective.
“The performance we had at stages was really, really, really high. That happened. I wouldn't speak so positively if it was not the case. But that’s why, when it comes to wins, I said we've seen this before. That’s why I believe a change is coming to getting it right. Currently: the fine margins.”
“I saw a lot of encouraging signs that we did, once more. However is sustaining it. My outlook would not be if I didn't believe it. Therefore I firmly believe we’re going to be able to fix this.”
Opposition Reaction Outlook
Rangers manager refused to contemplate a title charge in spite of what appeared to be a huge result. “Step by step, and we can gradually build something here,” he said. “The faith in the squad is excellent.”
