It has been 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story film debuted, launching the animation giant as a leading film company and bringing viewers to beloved characters like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a glimpse into the storyline but leaving fans wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang

In the teaser reveals the young girl — who received the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a brand new toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), traveling with a carnival and helping prize toys locate loving owners.

Surely, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?

Connections from the Last Installment

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before departing for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the insignia attached to her shirt.

Hopefully she is still the key figure among the group.
