The network's Premier Fresh Series of 2025 Secures a Significant Extension for Seasons 2 and 3.

During the fall season, the late-night programming block saw the return of its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. However, not long after, the channel introduced a fresh animated series with a strikingly different feel. Haha, You Clowns emerged as gentle and comforting, evoking a animated take of a laid-back talk show. In an era often marked by cynicism, this show's wholesomeness resonated deeply and helped it become a breakout hit.

A Two-Season Greenlight

On December 18th, Adult Swim made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for a further two seasons. This gives creator Joe Cappa ample opportunity to develop the world of the Campbell family. The series follows three polite teenage brothers whose defining trait is their deep love for their widowed father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four central characters.

"I’m so grateful to the fans of the show who welcomed the series and spread the word," remarked Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to continue exploring the Campbell household for seasons to come."

Executive Acclaim

Accompanying the news laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "profoundly sincere and oddly captivating." He specifically highlighted the fans who found the show and advocated for its peculiarly charming sensibility.

"All of you got behind this new show, rooted for it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Different Kind of Comedy

Earlier this fall, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a comforting antidote" to more cynical adult animated fare. There’s something deeply soothing about following this charming family go about their simple existence.

At the time, creator Joe Cappa stated his hope to evolve comedy past its long-running cynical streak. He traced this trend to a broader media landscape.

“We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we keep returning to,” said Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we need to laugh at something different now. Comedy has to evolve.”

What Comes Next

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns guaranteed to return, Cappa may well help usher in that very evolution. If nothing else, the renewal promises audiences additional episodes to experience the warm glow of the unique Campbell clan.

The season 1 finale of Haha, You Clowns is scheduled to air on December 21st. All episodes is available for streaming on HBO Max.
