The Streaming Giant Selects Ideal Performer for Mr. 2 in One Piece Upcoming Installment
Baroque Works is set to play a huge role in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, though the true confrontation won’t unfold until the third season, and a cherished, popular member has just been cast.
The streaming service revealed this week that the skilled actor will appear in the One Piece cast for the third season and will portray Mr. 2. This character can use their power to change into an identical duplicate of any individual they’ve made contact with with their right hand. The actor, who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, will portray a version of that role reimagined as gender non-binary, as opposed to as a drag performer, in the real-life adaptation, as in the source material and cartoon version.
The new cast member is joined by several other fresh additions tasked with bringing the group to life, including leader Mr. 0, played by Joe Manganiello, an emerging star as a key member, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who also joins the cast as the monarch of Alabasta.
Even though this character is a major member of the group, the individual won’t appear until One Piece season 3. Given season 2 expected to adapt the Little Garden segment, this represents a significant shift in the timing of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could signal additional alterations to the narrative framework.
Escola’s blend of precise humor and emotional depth makes them a standout choice for the role. Along with their recent voice performance in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and numerous honors for creating and performing in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, showcasing the versatility they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s widely praised figures.
The platform’s adapted One Piece show is set to return for its season two on March 10, 2026.
